A merry Christmas tree

Well it’s Christmas Eve and only one sleep to go to the big day! Our plans have taken bit of a unexpected turn today, however. We should have been heading to celebrate my father-in-law’s 96th birthday this evening (you can see the card I made him here), so in line with best practice we did our lateral flow tests this morning (as we’ve done every time we’ve visited). Lo and behold, my son tested positive! Fortunately, he’s not unwell as he’s had his booster vaccination, but honestly what terrible timing! We’ve now cancelled all our Christmas plans (no church, no family coming to visit) and are self-isolating for the next week. My only outing today was to take him for his PCR test, but fortunately my other son & I are currently testing negative.

So… what else to do with my day but craft?! I decided to make a simple card using Julie Hickey’s ‘Oh Christmas tree’ stamp. It’s such a lovely image, it doesn’t really need much embellishment. I made an A6 card blank from navy cardstock and heat embossed the image using WOW’ superfine metallic silver powder.

I then just used Pearlywinks spray and a paintbrush to colour the image – ‘pure pearl’ for the leaves and ‘golden shimmer’ for the star and berries.

That’s it. Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas. I may be returning with more posts over the next few days now we’re on plan B of the family celebrations – it rather depends how good the television schedule is!
