pink sunflower

Hello crafty friends. I’m back with another one of Julie Hickey’s stamps today – this time the half sunflower from her ‘be happy’ set. It’s such a great image and so easy to use. I’ve taken inspiration from a couple of challenges for this one – the colour palette is from Color Throwdown and the layout from the sketch at Just Add Ink

I started with a square of card trimmed to fit a 6×6 card blank and blended ‘spun sugar’ Distress Oxide onto it, adding ‘picked raspberry around the edge. I then stamped the sunflower and heat embossed it with WOW’s metallic silver powder.

I then coloured the flower using the ‘picked raspberry’ and a waterbrush, adding ‘slate’ Adirondack ink to the centre and the hearts. I repeat stamped the edge of the petals along the right hand side in the ‘picked raspberry’, to pick up the strip on Just Add Ink’s sketch.

I stamped a vertical greeting onto one of Julie’s banner die cuts and heat embossed it in the silver before attaching it to the card front with foam pads. I cut a mask for the flower and brushed a little of the ‘slate’ ink around the edges to give it a bit of depth. A few grey Glossies just added the finishing touch.

Thanks for dropping in. I’ve had a lovely afternoon connecting with another group of crafty friends courtesy of the inspirational Marion Emberson. I’m so looking forward to her monthly studio classes starting again next spring!
