M for motivation/encouragement

Welcome to my crafty blog and the next letter in the Alphabet challenge. We’re now on to M and Melanie has asked us to include a motivational or encouraging sentiment on our cards. I’ve gone with this simple sentiment from Stampin’ Up!’s ‘lovely you’ set ( I thought this would work well as a get well card for for someone just needing a bit of a lift) and teamed it with the colour scheme from this week’s CAS Colours & Sketches challenge.

I started with a square of white card and die cut a small circle out of it. That gave me the focal point to stamp the leaves and flowers around it – I do like a bit of pattern building! I used Distress Oxides in ‘mowed lawn’, ‘chipped sapphire’ and ‘salvaged patina’.

I then blended ‘chipped sapphire’ around the edges of a slightly larger card square and mounted the topper onto it before attaching them to a 6×6 card blank.

Finally, I stamped the sentiment onto the small circle that I’d die cut from the first piece of card, adding the small flower head around it in ‘salvaged patina’. I mounted that onto a second circle of white card and attached both to the card front.

I often struggle to create a random pattern, but I’m pleased with how this one turned out. Come and join us over at the Alphabet challenge – we’d love to see what sentiment you choose for your card.
