Welcome to my crafty blog. I decided it was time I had another play with the ‘pansy patch’ set from Stampin’ Up! and thought the ‘plentiful plants’ set would make an ideal base for my flowers, after I’d seen the new inspiration photo from Inspired by challenge. I picked up their sketch as well for my layout and started with the colours from CAS Colours & Sketches.

The first step was to run an A6 card blank through SU’s ‘pinewood planks’ embossing folder so the card front wasn’t completely plain.

I then stamped the flower pot and leaves in Distress Oxide ‘speckled egg’ and die cut them out, trimming the leave into two halves. I stamped and die cut six of the small pansies, three in ‘festive berries’ and three in ‘mustard seed’, and then glued all the pieces together. Once dry, the topper went onto the card front using foam pads.

I finished by stamping the sentiment in the ‘festive berries’ and die cutting it with a small oval before attaching that to the card with a foam pad.

The colours are very similar to this week’s Color Throwdown challenge as well, so I made a second version.

I swapped the ‘specked egg’ for ‘broken china’ on the plant pot and leaves, and embossed the piece of card for the background using the ‘bricks & mortar’ folder for a slightly different effect. Not sure which I like best – what do you think?.

Both are great, but I definitely prefer the ‘pinewood planks’ rather than the brick wall. I like the brighter colour for the pot as well. But then, I’m only going by the photos so the other colour might be just fine ‘in real life’!

What a cheery pot of pansies Deborah! I think I prefer the brighter blue of version two, but both are lovely and I really like the embossed background detail on both. Thanks for sharing with us over at CAS Colours & Sketches this week!
