Welcome to my crafty blog and another birthday card. This one uses the wonderful Julie Hickey’s ‘floral happiness’ stamp – I did an online class with Julie a couple of months ago using this set, which inspired this design together with the layout from this week’s Freshly Made Sketches. The fab colours are the current palette over at Inspire Create challenges.

I started with a piece of smooth white card trimmed to fit on a 5×7 card blank and blended Distress Oxides in ‘evergreen bough’ and ‘squeezed lemonade’ onto it.

I stamped the ‘floral happiness’ spray twice and coloured it with a waterbrush and Distress Oxides in ‘squeezed lemonade’, ‘evergreen bough’, ‘chipped sapphire’ and ‘ripe persimmon’. Once dry I fussy cut both pieces.

The next step was to glue both pieces onto the background card. I then trimmed the sprays down along the card edge and attached the whole piece to the card front.

I blended some more of the ‘chipped sapphire’ onto a spare piece of white card and then die cut Julie Hickey’s new ‘happy’ die from it. I also stamped the sentiment from her ‘mandala’ set, again in the ‘chipped sapphire’, and attached both to the card front to finish.

I’m so pleased with how this card turned out. I love this new die from Julie Hickey and I’m sure it will get a lot more use. I’ve just signed up for her next Facebook live class – she always shares such fab inspiration so I’m very excited!
Wonderful colours 👍🙂
