Welcome to my craft blog, and a Christmas card in less than traditional colours! I was inspired by the challenge over at Inspired by – I love the idea of a tropical Santa, but didn’t have anything suitable in my stash so took the colours from the picture to use with Julie Hickey’s ‘holly jolly Christmas’ stamp. I used the layout from Inspire Create, where Denita’s card is the inspiration to follow.

I started by stamping the holly background and heat embossing it with WOW’s metallic silver super fine powder. I then coloured the image with a waterbrush and Distress Oxides in ‘broken china’, ‘mowed lawn’ and ‘festive berries’.

I trimmed the card down to a square and layered it on a couple of mats – the first where I’d blended ‘broken china’ around the edge, and the second in silver satin card. They then went onto a 5×5 card blank.

I die cut two of the leaves from Julie Hickey’s ‘poinsettia’ set and blended ‘broken china’ and ‘mowed lawn’ onto them. I stamped the little berries from the same set and heat embossed them in silver before colouring with the ‘festive berries’ and die cutting them. I popped one of Claritystamp’s word stickers on the card and nested the leaves & berries against it.

Thanks for dropping in. I’m really rather taken with these colours for a Christmas card – this may be another one to make more of.
Very pretty. Like it! Colours work in August – be interesting to see if they do in December!
