always look on the bright side of life

Welcome to my crafty blog. I’m sharing a quick and easy card today – always helpful to have one of these up your sleeve for when you’re in a hurry. The focal point of this card is one of the new stencils from WOW – this is the confetti circle, and I thought it was perfect for this week’s theme of ‘polka dots’ over at The Paper Players. I’ve also picked up the diagonal from top left to bottom right on TicTacToe‘s grid – rainbow/stickers/CAS (and need to say thank you to the TTC team for including my card from last week in their top picks! Here’s the link to that one: birthday circles)

I started the card by laying the stencil on a 5×5 card blank, and using low tack tape to mask off the outer parts of the card in case I went over the edge! I picked seven of my Distress Oxide colours to reflect the rainbow scheme – red (festive berries), orange (ripe persimmon), yellow (mustard seed), green (mowed lawn), blue (mermaid lagoon), indigo (chipped sapphire) and violet (wilted violet). I did do a bit of planning to make sure I got the colours fairly evenly spaced around the circle, and then added each of them on turn with a sponge.

All I then needed to do was choose an appropriate sentiments from Claritystamp’s ‘word sticker collection’, which I mounted onto black card and then attached to the card front with foam pads.

Have you got a certain song going through your head yet? I have, every time I look at this card! On another note, I’m writing this as a scheduled post for the first time, now I think I’ve worked out how to do it, so I’m praying it publishes smoothly later today. If you’re reading this, then all was well!

  1. Hello Deborah:
I was listening to a “Bluegrass” radio station just last week and on came the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and I think Allison Krause singing with them: Keep on the Sunny Side of Life so your card fits right in as well! Thank you.
