Welcome to my crafty blog. I’ve been catching up with an online class from last week with the brilliant Julie Hickey using some of her new stamps, and I adapted this card from one of her demonstrations. I’m always in awe of what she manages to come up with.
I’ve used the colours from the current challenge at As You See It, and I thought the circles picked up the feel of those delicious looking macarons in the photo. I also took the right hand column from TicTacToe‘s grid – heat embossing, die cuts and circles.
I started with Claritystamp’s circles stencil from their ‘basic backgrounds’ set and brushed Distress Oxides through it in ‘picked raspberry’, ‘mustard seed’ & ‘speckled egg’. I then added highlight patterns to some of the circles using the stamps from Clarity’s craft club in January this year, using ‘gathered twigs’ to pick up the fourth colour in the challenge.
the next step was to use Julie Hickey’s ‘birthday background’ stamp to add detail onto the card. I thought this was an inspired feature in the class last week. I stamped it in clear ink and then heat embossed it with WOW bright white superfine powder.
The stamp is an A6 size, so I trimmed down the card around the edge of the embossed area and then attached it to a 6×6 black card blank, which really made the colours stand out. I embossed one of Julie’s new vertical sentiments (these are so useful!) in white on black card and die cut it into a banner. That went onto the card with foam pads, and I finished by adding a few Glossies in matching colours (just for a few more circles!)
I’m very happy with how this one turned out. Julie’s classes are always great, and I’ve still got a couple of videos from last week’s to catch up with, so there’ll be more to come over the next few days.
