Deck the halls

Hello everyone. I’ve had a quieter day today and spent a few hours crafting this afternoon whilst catching up with my sister online (who was also crafting at the same time!) You may have noticed that I’m in full Christmas production at the moment, and took the opportunity for another play with the SHAC Christmas Trees stamps.

Working on a 3.5″ square of premium card, I sponged ‘salvaged patina’ Distress Oxide and a little ‘peacock feathers’ onto one of the smaller background stamps and stamped it onto the card. I then covered it with the outer part of the pre-cut masks (there’s one for every tree in the set) and stamped the decorative image onto it with ‘shadow grey’ Archival.

I then covered the tree with the inner part of the mask and stamped two more, one either side, again sponging the ‘salvaged patina’ and a little ‘peacock feathers’ onto them. I could then repeat the process with the outer mask for each tree, again stamping the decorations onto them in the ‘shadow grey’.

And spot the numpty mistake…! I managed to add the wrong decoration stamp to the tree on the left (it was for a narrower one)! Fortunately, I was able to rescue it by extending each of the lined with the narrow tip of a grey Perga Colour pen and a ruler – phew!

I found some little solid stars in the Holly Framer stamp set, so topped my trees with them in ‘packed raspberry’. I dotted the trees with a pink Perga Colour pen, then drew their trunks in with the grey one and grounded the trio by sponging the ‘shadow grey’ across a torn piece of copy paper. Having stamped one of the Christmas Statement Sentiments in black Archival, I dotted a few more pink stars around it, then added a mount of Waimea Falls companion paper and attached the topper to a 5×5 card blank.

I seem to be saying it about every set I’m using at the moment, but these trees are fun to play with – you know I love trying out different colour palettes too. And I’m going to share this card with a couple of other challenges, with thanks to Creative Colour for this palette and Sunday Stamps for the layout (I rotated their sketch through 180 degrees).
