Hello everyone. I would normally say ‘welcome to Seasonal Saturday’, but I’ve been sharing Christmas cards with you all week, so that feels a bit unnecessary! Anyway, it’s time for our new challenge at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown, where Gill has given us a great sketch to play with. I reached again for one of the fabulous geese from the Christmas Animals collection, sitting him on one of Barb’s Backdrop Print toppers for a quick interpretation of this layout.

I started by cutting one of the toppers to a square, then stamped the goose in place with black Archival ink.

I used an ink eraser pencil to lift the background colour from his head and feet, then recoloured them with Polychromo pencils. The white fur on his hat looked a little dull, so I brightened it up with a white Posca pen.

I added the four snowflakes in ‘salvaged patina’ Archival ink (although with hindsight I wish I’d gone with a slightly different tone to pick out the blue in the background), then followed with one of the Christmas Statement Sentiments. I added a mount of Antarctica designer paper, which had the same tones as the topper, and popped the whole piece onto a 6×6 card blank.

I’m back at the NEC in Birmingham today for another session at the Creative Craft Show – these stamps were proving very popular on the Clarity Crafts stand yesterday!
