Christmas sampler robins

Hello crafty friends and welcome to another look at the new Christmas Animals sampler stamps. Today it’s the turn of these cheeky little robins on another of my Clarity design team cards – I lined up three of the stamps to form a panel on my card and then just added a little pencil colouring to bring them to life! Read on for the step by step process…

I first cut a piece of premium card to fit on an A6 card blank and drew myself a vertical centre pencil guideline so I could accurately position the middle image. I then ran piece of low tack tape down the edge of the image, inked up one of the robins (with black Archival) and lined him up with the top and bottom of the first image to stamp into place. Having the low tack tape down the side of the first one meant that I could overlap the stamp slightly so I didn’t get a double frame on it (and I didn’t have to get the side lines perfectly aligned!) I then repeated the process to add the third one on the other side.

I shaded them in with reds, browns & green from the Autumn & Winter Polychromo pencils sets, using a blending nib to smooth out the colours.

Finally, I covered my A6 card blank with a piece of red Rainbow River companion paper, then simply sat the topper onto it. Oh, and I brought their eyes to life with white dots from a fine Posca pen.

Who doesn’t love a robin at Christmas? I’ve got one that hops around my garden looking for worms – he’s a very friendly little chap!

And this little pair are fluttering off to join in a few current challenges too, starting with the ‘red & green’ theme at Color Hues. They also pick up the ‘birds’ aspect at Triple B and the ‘Christmas’ theme for Inspire.Create.
