Diecut treescape for Sparkles Challenge #205

Good morning crafty friends. Our new theme at Sparkles Challenge starts today and we want to see die cutting on your cards. That gave me a good excuse to play with the Treescape Aperture die, one of my favourite images although I tend to gravitate more to the stamps than the die for this one. Anyway, here it is now. I’ve been a bit short on time this week (lots of work commitments), so opted to use one of the Autumn/Winter Skies toppers for my background, making this a fairly quick card.

The first step was to back a piece of white card with Stick It thin double sided adhesive, then cut the die into it. I trimmed the edges of the diecut down (it’s an aperture die, so doesn’t have an outer cutting edge), then stuck it onto one of the Skies Toppers – easy to do as I’d remembered to put the adhesive sheet on the back first!

The die and topper do all the work here, so I just needed a few finishing touches, starting with cutting the topper down to fit on a 6×6 card blank. I mounted it on a co-ordinating piece of Shenandoah companion paper and attached it to the card blank. Finally I added one of the Occasions – Get well sentiments and it was done.

This has given me such an atmospheric look, with the moon peeping through the trees and the diecut gives it a more textured feel. We hope you’ll come along and play with us at Sparkles challenge, meanwhile I’m going to add this to the gallery over at AAA Colourful.
