Hello everyone – I hope your weekend is going well. I’m back with another look at the new Retro Family stamps, which I put to use this time for my son’s family Christmas card with a little paper piecing (although I can’t ever seen them wearing matching pyjamas…!) These stamps are perfect for personalising cards for any occasion.

I started with a a 3.5″ square of premium card and stamped the three characters into place with black Archival ink. I stamped them one at a time, starting with the boy in the middle, then adding mum & dad on each side. I didn’t add the separate feet stamps, using the space underneath for the sentiment – ‘family’ is in the Retro stamps and ‘Christmas’ came from the Art Deco sentiments.

I then reached for the Clarity Christmas Papers and stamped the images onto it, so I could cut out festive jumpers for them all and glue them into place. I left their trousers & shorts white, but added a little shading with a grey Polychromo pencil.

Next was to use the infill stamps for everyone’s hair, followed by the ‘beige red’ Polcyhromo for their faces and the little one’s legs.

Finally, I cut a mount of the Christmas paper. I used a square embedder and a ball tool to emboss a frame onto a 6×6 card blank and then attached the topper to sit within it.

And here’s the version I made with a piece of the new 4×4 Retro Papers as one of my design team samples – I was delighted to see Barbara choose to demo it on Friday’s Clarity Social TV (you can watch the show here)

I love how you can change the feel of the characters from this set just with the colours or a bit of paper piecing – so many possibilities!
This is off to make an appearance in a couple of challenge galleries, starting with Love Those Pretty Papers and also Merry Little Christmas, for the ‘anything goes’ option in both.
