Hello everyone. I’ve had a busy day today with a cleaning company in the house – the whole place was rewired whilst I was away, so I came home to a lovely layer of dust everywhere and on everything. I brought in the professionals to sort it from top to bottom (definitely a good investment!), so couldn’t get to my craft desk until this evening. Anyway, my September calendar page didn’t get made as I was away at the beginning of the month, so I decided to rectify that with the stencil from this month’s Clarity Craft Club.

It’s a lovely ‘mermaid scales’ design and I thought it deserved to be the star of the page. I simply laid it on one of the topper cards that came with the calendar, masked off the bottom border with low tack tape and blended ‘wilted violet’, ‘bundled sage’ and ‘broken china’ Distress Oxides through the stencil. I removed it to clean the ink off, then replaced it over the blended ink. I then pressed a Versamark clear ink pad through the stencil onto the blended areas, lifted it off and heat embossed the whole design with WOW’s clear sparkle powder.

I trimmed the topper down slightly, mounted it on a piece of Waimea Falls companion paper and attached it to my calendar page

The clear sparkle embossing powder gives the blended ink a lovely iridescent sheen – here’s a closer look.
