Speedy crafting at As You See It Challenge#379

Hello again everyone. We’ve got our next challenge for you at As You See It and it certainly can be a challenge as it’s our speed week, this time with the theme of ‘crafting’. Now you have to get your card made in 10 minutes or less for this challenge, so I reached for the easy solution of the Wee Friends & Family Silhouettes stamps (having spotted this little chap with his paintbrush and easel) and one of the Landscape Colour Wash toppers.

So for this challenge you’re allowed to plan your card (always a stretch for me!), get out all your tools and materials, mount your stamps and open your ink pads, but the moment you cut cardstock, ink up a stamp, or die cut, or fussy cut something, you must start your timer. So, I got everything ready on my desk, took a deep breath and pressed the stopwatch on my phone…

Now obviously, with the clock ticking, I didn’t take photos as I went along, but here’s my process. I stamped the little artist onto the printed background using black Archival ink, then added one of the foliage stamps for him to stand on (the Stamp Pen Pros are perfectly sized for these images). I quickly ran low tack tape across the top edge and down the right side, then used another of the foliage stamps to give the effect of a tree across the top. Next was to cut a mount from companion paper (I think it’s Antarctica), attach the topper and sit it on a 6×6 card blank. Finally, I found one of the Birthday & Christmas stickers, mounted it on a scrap of the blue companion paper and added it to my card front, with a tiny bit of scrap card under it on the right so it sat flat across the topper.

And then I hit ‘stop’ on the timer and drew breath! Not bad at just over seven and a half minutes, if I say so myself!

  4. Those watercolour wash cards are a great way to save time and they’re so pretty too. Great spotting of the painter silhouette too – just perfect for this challenge. 🙂
