Madonna sky

Hello everyone and welcome to this week’s Seasonal Saturday offering (in case you missed it, I’m aiming to make one Christmas card every week through 2026 – and so far I’m on track!). This week’s I’ve gone with one of my favourite dies, the Madonna Window, but put a twist on it with slightly unexpected colours, thanks to one of the new Elements Skies cards.

So, my starting point was one of the skies cards, a lovely sunset of peach and pale blue tones. I cut the Madonna Window die out of a piece of dark blue-grey Shenandoah companion paper that I’d back with thin Stick It double sided adhesive, then used the smallest outline from the Peace & Love nested window dies for the edge. Having stuck that to the skies card, which I’d trimmed down to the right dimensions to frame the window, I cut the Madonna’s infill from a scrap of Amazonia paper and glued the two pieces into place with a Pritt stick.

I added a mount of dark blue Antarctica paper (the nearest match I’d got for the Shenandoah, as I’d subsequently realised I didn’t have a piece of the grey left large enough for it – doh!) and attached it to a 6×6 card blank. I was then on to the finishing touches – shading the faces with ‘sanguine’ Polychromo pencil, adding one of the Birthday & Christmas word stickers, and finally a few peach Glossies dots.

What do you think? I’m kind of wishing I’d put the background card the other way up, but too late now! The good news, though, is that the Skies cards are on offer as one of Clarity’s June Products of the Month, plus there’s a half price die sale on until midnight on Monday – a great opportunity to stock up!

I’m also sharing this with a couple of challenges, picking up the ‘J for Just enough’ (ie CAS) theme at ABC Christmas and ‘anything goes’ at Holly & Ivy.
