Hello again! Well, it’s the start of May so I’ve got the new month’s page in my Clarity calendar to share with you, as my design team contribution for the latest challenge at Love to Craft – as always our theme is ‘anything goes’. This month I’ve featured the new SHAC Bouquets stamps – my sentiment on last month’s page said ‘April showers bring May flowers’ so here they are!

I found a piece of Waimea Falls designer paper that I decided would work for my background and stamped the roses & lilies bouquet in the centre using black Archival ink. I then added one of the Tall Feel Good sentiments, splitting it into two parts by masking the lower half to ink the top (remember to take the tape off before stamping it!) and then repeating the process with the lower part of the stamp, so that I could sit it either side of the bouquet. Next was to shade in the bouquet using my Polychromo pencils in pinks & yellows to pick up the tones from the background paper.

I wanted a bit more of a contrast on the page, so turned to the Build a Landscape – Trees & People set to add a row of trees either side of the flowers using black ink, with a micron pen to doodle in the ground. I have to say, my stamping was a bit off with these, but I decided to go with it as it gives a bit of a misty feel to them. I then simply added a narrow layer of white paper and a mount of Waimea Falls companion paper, which of course tones beautifully with the designer paper background.

I am so enjoying making my calendar page each month, and it’s lovely to have it on the wall by my craft desk. Now I need to start thinking about June’s design!
