And I’m back for the final time today, this time with our new theme at Alphabet Challenge – we’re back at the beginning of the alphabet once more and it’s ‘in the air’. I opted to play with the Build a Bloom stamps again – on the launch show for these, Barbara mentioned that they would work for butterflies, so I decided to give that a go!

I’ve done another one layer card for this, so my first move was to emboss a frame on a 5×5 blank using a square embedder and a ball tool. I first stamped one of the new Tall Art Deco sentiments in black Archival ink, then started on the butterfly. I took the lower of the three larger images, sponged ‘twisted citron’ Distress Oxide onto it and planted it on the card front at an angle. I then added the longer topper stamp, this time with ‘mowed lawn’ to complete my butterfly wing.

I repeated that for the other side, then overstamped both wings with the stem cup image, which gives the effect of them bring curved. I added one of the stems for the body and one of the smaller stamps for the antennae.

It all looked a but flat, so I masked off the border on the card front so that I could brush ‘tumbled glass’ across the clouds mask to create the sky for my butterfly to soar through!

This is such a great theme, with lots of scope – what will you have in the air on your card? I’m so happy with how these bloom stamps turned into my butterfly too, thanks to Barbara’s inspiration!
