Hello friends. I’m still busy playing with goodies from my stash, inspired by the bargains in this weekend’s Big Spring Sale over on the Clarity Crafts website. I love the little characters drawn by Linda Williams as part of her ‘children’ collection – this is the Spring one, unsurprisingly called Playing in the Rain!

Starting with a piece of the 6×4.5″ premium card that I’d cut to a square, I stamped the little one and their duck friend in black Archival ink, then covered them with the pre-cut reusable masks from the stamp set. That made it easy to brush ‘speckled egg’ Distress Oxide into the abckground around them to create a soft effect.

Next, I set to work with my Polychromo pencils, blending shades together with ‘dark cadmium yellow’, ‘cadmium orange’ and ‘light cadmium red’ for the raincoat, then switching to ‘may green’, ‘earth green yellowish’ and ‘permanent green olive’ for the wellies and brolly. Once shaded, I used a dry blending nib to smooth the tones in together.

Having added a sentiment from the I Am Essentials – Birthday set, I popped a layer of Waimea Falls companion paper behind my topper and attached it to a 6×6 card blank.

There’s not been much rain around here lately as we’ve been having a spell of warm sunny days, but I have to tell you that this would have been my sister’s idea of heaven when we were small – she absolutely loved jumping in puddles!
This card picks up a few challenges as well, starting with the colour scheme at Color Hues and then the ‘April showers’ theme for both Cardz4Galz and 613 Avenue Create, plus the ‘rain’ option at Inkspirational.

You happen to be in my commenting numbers with this card and I commented already as a friend not a DT. I do love it though and thanks for sharing at cardz4galz, Johanna

Super cute! Those pre-cut masks have to be huge time-savers. One reason I rarely mask is the tedious job of cutting around all the images! Wish more stamp companies would do that!

Totally agree about the masks! I think Clarity are the only company that does them as part of their stamp sets
