Hello friends and welcome to Seasonal Saturday! It’s technique week at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown and, I have to be honest, the masking tape background was a new one on me! Having looked it up, I discovered that it’s really very simple and just involves picking up ink on low tack tape and then applying it to your card – nothing more complicated than that! Staying with my CAS approach, I added a couple fir trees from the Trees and their Mantles to complete the seasonal look. Read on for the details…

I cut my topper piece by trimming the 6×4.5″ premium card to a square, then found a couple of green Distress Oxides that I thought would work in the background – ‘iced spruce’ and ‘evergreen bough’. All I needed to do was tear a length of low tack tape, press it onto the first ink pad (using the sticky side), and then press it onto the card, Having repeated it with the second ink (and a clean piece of tape!), I had a great effect on the background.

Next was to add my trees, using black Archival for the trunk image, and the ‘evergreen bough’ for the mantles.

I simply added one of the Art Deco sentiment stamps, edged the topper with a black Sharpie and added a mount of Amazonia companion paper, before attaching the whole piece to a 6×6 card blank.

It’s always fun to learn a new technique, isn’t it (although I suspect I’m just way behind the curve and this has no doubt been around for ages!) Anyway, I can add it to my list of potential background designs now – I am easily pleased!! And just a quick reminder too about Clarity’s Big Spring Sale that runs until midnight on Monday 27th – everything I’ve used on this card is currently 50% off (including the low tack tape!)
And, as ever, I’m going to share this with a couple of other current blog challenges. My green card picks up the G theme at Christmas Crafts All Year Round and Peace on Earth have their usual ‘anything goes’ challenge.
