Pink recipe at As You See It challenge #371

Hello everyone! Today sees the start of our new challenge at As You See It and this time round it’s our recipe, which I put together! There are five elements in the recipe and we need you to feature all of them on your card – although how you do that is down to your creativity! I opted to use the new Build a Bloom stamps (although they sold out on their launch weekend – hopefully it won’t be too long before they are back on the website!). Read on for how I incorporated the rest of the recipe elements…

I first cut a topper from premium card using one of the Block Print Nested Circle Frame Dies (currently half price in this weekend’s Big Spring Sale) and stamped the bloom using ‘kitsch flamingo’ Distress Oxide, with ‘picked raspberry’ for the top part. I then added the little ‘cup’ and the stem with black Archival ink, popping low tack tape across the base of the frame to keep it clean.

I added the two small flower shapes either side of the first one, again using ‘picked raspberry’, with the other elements in black – I also used the little stem elements along the bottom of the frame to look a bit like grass together with part of one of the Bijou Retro Sentiments (I masked the stamp before inking it). I then cut a mount from pink Waimea Falls companion paper using a Nested Circle Die and mounted the topper onto it, so the colour showed through the die cut frame.

Finally, I used a round embedder and a ball tool to emboss a frame on the front of a 5×5 card blank and attached the topper to it – you may have noticed that I’m a big fan of how the embedders will frame an image!

So, let’s check my card to make sure I’ve got all the elements included: ‘one word sentiment’ with my ‘happy’ stamp; ‘die cut’ with my circle frame and the mount behind it; ‘flowers’ from the Build a Bloom stamps; ‘frame’ from my die cut and the embedder; and finally it’s definitely got ‘shades of pink’! And there’s more inspiration from my design team-mates over on the As You See It blog, to help get you started.

In other news, although the Build a Bloom stamps are currently out of stock, everything else I’ve used on my card is in Clarity’s Big Spring Sale this weekend, at up to 50% off. It’s definitely worth checking out for some real bargains!
