Look on the bright side

Hello everyone. I hope you’ve had a good weekend. We had friends over for lunch, so I’m a bit late with today’s post, once again using the new Build a Bloom stamps. This card uses set 3 from the collection to create some vibrant spring tulips, with simple two-step first and second generation stamping.

I cut a piece of Clarity’s 6×4.5″ premium card to a 4.5″ square and ran low tack tape around the edges to give me a frame. I then stamped the larger flower images in second generation (ie stamped it off lightly on copy paper after inking, then onto my card which gives a lighter tone of the ink), using ‘picked raspberry’ and ‘wilted violet’ Distress Oxides. I then went back over them with the double outer image for the larger flowers and one of the leaf stamps for the smaller ones, this time using first generation (ie straight after inking) of both colours.

I used the stem stamps from the set to anchor my tulips, stamping them with black Archival ink, then filled in around the flowers with the leaves in ‘bundled sage’ Distress Oxide. Before I removed the low tack tape, I also lightly brushed the ‘bundled sage’ in from the edges to define the background a little better.

I added one of the Bijou Tall Feel Good sentiments to go with my bright tulips, then used black Archival ink to scatter a few of the little dotty florals around my blooms. Having edged the topper with a black Sharpie, I simply attached it to a 5×5 card blank.

I’ve been having such fun playing with these stamps – I suspect they’ll be making more appearances on this blog before too long! And one of the really helpful things is that they come with little inspiration cards for how the different images work together – so much potential!

Meanwhile, I’ll be sharing this card with a couple of challenges. I took the colour palette from Color Dare and the floral inspiration from Beautiful Blossoms and Time Out (picking up ‘blooms’ and ‘hope’ with my encouraging sentiment from their ‘pick two’ challenge).
