Little SHAC birds for CAS Colours & Sketches #583

Hello crafty friends! It’s time for our new challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches – I’m still hosting and put together this simple sketch for you to play with. Although I designed this at the beginning of the year, it very helpfully works well with the Little SHAC Birds, one of Clarity’s recent releases – happy days!

I kept it pretty literal with the sketch this time (not always my approach!), and started with a topper that I’d cut to fit on an A6 card blank. I stamped the line image first then added the smaller three birds onto it – to get them evenly spaced, I started with the two outside ones, then sat the centre one between them. Finally, I added one of the Art Deco sentiments – all with black Archival ink.

I then simply shaded the birds with Polychromo pencils, using ‘dark cadmium yellow’ and ‘warm grey IV’ and smoothing the colours with a blending nib. The last step was to attach the topper to the A6 card blank.

So what are you inspired to create with my little sketch for CAS Colours & Sketches? Did you know there are a couple of little yellow & grey bird species here in the UK? I’m not sure whether this little trio are wagtails or yellowhammers, but either way it’s down to the colour scheme at The Paper Players.
