Hello friends and welcome to our new challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches! It’s a colour scheme this time round, and perfect for the new ‘dippy toe lady’ stamp from ClarityCrafts.

I started by creating a rectangular frame on the front of a 5×5 card blank using an embedder. The one that was the right width for my image was too long for the card, so I set about shortening it. Having attached it to the front of the card, I ran my embossing tool around it (on the inside of the card front) but stopped when I was about two thirds down each side. I then repositioned the embedder, moving it up the card, so the base was where I wanted it, went back to the inside and finished embossing it. Always helpful to know how to resize these!

I took a rectangle of stencil card and blended ‘salvaged patina’ and ‘evergreen bough’ Distress Oxides onto it, having put pencil dots either side of the image so I knew where the waterline sat. I stamped the outline image in ‘watering can’ Archival ink, then sponged the ‘salvaged patina’ and the ‘evergreen bough’ onto the infill stamp to deepen the background colours.

I simply ran a black Sharpie around the edges of the topper and attached it into the embedded frame. The final touch was to add an appropriate word sticker – I was thinking of one of my friends who enjoys open water swimming when I selected it! I hope the water wasn’t too cold!

So how will you use our colours this time round? Come on over to the CAS Colours & Sketches gallery and share you creations – we’d love to see them!
