B for Birds at Alphabet Challenge

Hello there! We’ve got a new theme at Alphabet Challenge and it’s B for Birds, which gave me the perfect excuse to use the ‘woodland birds’ stencil and showcase one of the new ‘bijou word dangles’ stamps I’ll be launching for ClarityCrafts on Create & Craft TV tomorrow!

So I started with half a 6×6 card blankand used a hinge of low tack tape across the top to attach the ‘woodland birds’ stencil. As it’s an A5 size, it was obviously longer than my card, so I ran a strip of Clarity’s mask material across the bottom to match the border around the other three sides. I also popped a moon mask under the stencil and then randomly brushed ‘bundled sage’, ‘carved pumpkin’ and ‘broken china’ Distress Oxides across the stencil. I lifted the stencil (that’s why it’s helpful to have the tape hinge), switched the mask for the outer portion, dropped the stencil back into place and brushed ‘squeezed lemonade’ to create the sun.

I stamped the ‘friends bijou dangle’ into the bottom corner with black Archival ink and shaded it in with a black Pergaliner pencil. I added one of the phrases from the set below it – with hinsight I should have put that above the sentiment as it fits into the curve of the ribbon! Rookie error!

I ran a black Sharpie around the edge of the topper and attached it to a 7×7 card blank on which I’d created a frame with the largest square embedder. The final touch was to add a few of the little words in the stamp set around the birds and branches.

Thanks for dropping in and I’m so looking forward to playing some more with these stamps tomorrow (my shows are at 1pm & 4pm)! Don’t forget to come and share your creations with your feathered friends with us at Alphabet Challenge and I’m going to add this to the gallery over at Stencil Fun.
