Welcome to my crafty blog! I’ve gone for another take on the new geisha stamps from ClarityCrafts, this time pairing it with one of the ‘enso’ stamps. Enso is a sacred symbol from Zen Buddhism; it means ‘circle’ and is traditionally drawn with a single brushstroke as a meditative practice in letting go of the mind and allowing the body to create.

My first step was to use one of the nested circle embedders to create a frame on a small square of stencil card, then stamp the largest of the enso circles into the centre using black Archival ink. I used the outer part of a circle mask to cover around the enso image, then added the outer part of a small moon mask to create the sun by sponging ‘mustard seed’ and ‘ripe persimmon’ inks into it. I put a little low tack tape across the bottom of the circle and added more of the ‘ripe persimmon’ to create the ground.

I then simply stamped one of the small geishas into the circle, again with the black Archival ink, edged the topper with a Sharpie and attached it to a 5×5 card blank.

Thanks for dropping in. I’m heading over to The Paper Players to add this to their ‘sunshine & rainbows’ challenge, and to Simply Clean & Simple as I’ve picked up their option of ‘weather’ as well.

So interesting, both the creation and the story behind the stamp set.

A lovely CAS card, Deborah. The pop of yellow orange against the black is very effective. Off to mediate. Thanks for joining us at Paper Players this week. Cheers, Jolanda
