floral spotlight

Hello crafty friends. Today’s card is another of my samples from Barbara’s TV shows yesterday, this time using one of my all-time favourite stamps, the A6 ‘Tina’s floral spray’ set. I went with the spotlight technique, taking inspiration from the photo at AAA Colourful; I’m also going to share it with Just Add Ink as I’ve used their colours of purple & green thanks to the flowers on top of the cake.

I started by stamping the floral spray outline three times onto half a 5×5 card blank (which was the right size for my topper), then used a nested circle die to cut out the area for my spotlight.

I mounted the topper onto a layer of Amazonia companion paper and attached it to a 6×6 card blank, adding the sentiment from one of the seasonal tags & frames sets. I then took the die cut circle and brushed ‘broken china’ Distress Oxide across the clouds mask for the sky, then used Pergaliner pencils to colour the flowers and leaves.

I mounted the die cut circle onto some scrap card and positioned it back onto the topper, making sure that the image was fully lined up.

I do like this technique – you may be seeing it again in the future!
