CAS Colours & Sketches 533 – sketch

Hello crafty friends! It’s time for our new challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches and Joanne has gifted us a great sketch – perfect for a mix of British flowers combining the daffodils from ClarityCrafts‘ new Wales framer set, the thistle from the Scotland framer and the rose from Just Flowers (can’t believe such a simple card took 3 stamp sets!)

I started with a piece of card cut down to fit a 5×7 card blank and lined up the framework circles 7×7 stencil, so I had six apertures across the card. I brushed ‘speckled egg’ Distress Oxide through the stencil, then outlined each circle with a black Micron pen.

Next, I took the outer part of a circle mask to isolate each of the stencilled circles and then stamped each of the flowers twice with black Archival ink. I gave the ink a minute to dry before shading them all with Pergaliner pencils.

Now you’ll no doubt have spotted that I smudged the micron pen on the top left circle! Clearly, a butterfly (every crafter’s standard rescue for a smudge!) wouldn’t look right there, but I remembered the small dotty flower from the ‘Just flowers’ set and stamped that into each circle (including over the smudge) using black Archival ink. I edged the topper with a black Sharpie pen, attached it to the card blank and finished with one of the KISS word stickers.

I do love mixing and matching different stamp sets – you wouldn’t immediately think was made with the Wales & Scotland sets, would you? I’m going to share this with Just Add Ink, picking up circles & sayings from their challenge, with TGIF challenges for their floral inspiration pic and with Addicted to CAS where my flowers pick up their ‘bloom’ theme.

  1. This is a great mix and match Deborah for a beautifully themed card; a fabulous ‘fix’ too! Those flowers make beautiful centrepieces for the sketch too. A real breath of much-needed spring colour!
