Taj Mahal

hello there. I’m back on my travels abroad with today’s card, taking another look at the ‘Famous Places’ stamp set from ClarityCrafts and picking up one of my demo’s from Saturday’s shows.

I started with a 5×5 card blank that I’d cut in half – this is a good way to get your topper as there’s no waste, unlike cutting down a 7×7 piece of stencil card (I’ve got a box full of offcuts!) I created the frame with a circle embedder, then used the small circle backdrop stamp for the background, sponging ‘ripe persimmon’ and ‘mowed lawn’ onto it but leaving the centre clear. I gave it a quick spritz with water before stamping it. Once dry, I added the Taj Mahal image across the centre, with the sentiment from the set, both in black Archival ink.

I used an orange Pergaliner pencil to even out the shading across the top of the building, then added a layer of Waimea Falls companion paper and attached the whole piece to a 6×6 card blank.

I’ve got to thank Sonia Goodliff from the Clarity design team for the inspiration on this one – she shared one of her cards with me when I was planning my TV demos and her idea to use the colours of the Indian flag in the background was just inspired! I went down a slightly different route on TV on Saturday, using the same technique but switching it to an Italian theme with the Leaning Tower of Pisa

Thanks for dropping in. I’m going to head over to Simply Clean & Simple to share this – both cards pick up their optional twist of ‘green’.
