leaf outline stamp

Hello there! Today’s card features a stamp that’s been in my stash for a while and not previously seen any ink – the ‘holly leaf’ outline. I remembered it when I was looking through a few blog challenges that end over the next couple of days. Inspired by have got a helpful sketch and leaf photo, and I picked up the autumn feel from Just Us Girls‘ moodboard. Add in the left hand diagonal from TicTacToe‘s grid and the ‘fall’ theme from Stencil Fun and I was sorted!

I stamped the leaf outline onto a square of white card, then masked it off with the outer part of the precut maask that come with it, so I could create a scene inside the leaf. I brushed ‘iced spruce’ Distress Oxide across a piece of torn copy paper to create the ground, then used the clouds mask with ‘carved pumpkin’ and ‘ripe persimmon’ for the sky. I added in the trees and deer from the ‘stag’ miniature stamp set, keeping the mask in place so I could stamp the trees right to the edge.

I added the sentiments from the ‘occasions’ set using ‘potting soil’ Archival ink, together with a little flock of birds to fill in the gap. I wanted to use a kraft card blank, but the white card looked quite harsh against it so I lightly brushed the remaining ink from creating the sky around the card edges to soften it. I ran a black Sharpie around the card and then attached it to the card blank.

Thanks for dropping in. We’ve got more new stamps launching this week – I’ll be back with a sneak peek tomorrow!
