three kings

Welcome to my crafty blog and a first look at the next set of ‘Linda’s Christmas Compendium’ stamps that ClarityCrafts are launching tomorrow. I’ve got two cards to share today, both made with just one stamp from the ‘Christmas Treasures Advent A4’ set – the king from the second row on the sheet.

For the first card, I stamped the king three times with black ink onto card to fit a 5×7 blank. I then coloured the trio with Pregaliner pencils.

I painted their crowns and gifts with Perfect Pearl mica powders (just mixed with a little water) using a fine brush. I chose the colurs according to the gifts they are carring – obviously gold for the top one, a pearl colour for the middle one as frankincense is a silvery white resin, and copper for the last one to refect the red tones of myrrh. I then mounted the topper onto a layer of gold card, attached it to a 5×7 card blank and added an appropraiet word sticker.

I’ve gone with the same layout for the second stamp, but this time rotated it so the kings are processsing across the bottom of the card, heat embossing them with WOW superfine gold metallic powder. I then coloured them with the same shades as on the first card.

I used a gold Posca pen and a ruler to draw the lines to link the three squares, then again added a gold mount, attached it to a 5×7 card blank and added the same word sticker.

Now here’s a fact for you – we don’t actually know how many kings (or magi) came to visit the baby Jesus! The Bible doesn’t mention a number, but does describe the three gifts which is why we all assume there were therefore three kings. For all we know there could have been a dozen of them (but I couldn’t fit that many on my cards!)

Anyway, tune in to Create & Craft TV tomorrow (Thursday) to watch the luanch shows for these stamps. Until then, I’m heading off to share these cards with a few blog challenges. The first (portrait) one is for Less is More and their ‘celebrate’ theme, the second (landscape) one uses the sketch from CAS Colours & Sketches and both of them deliver the ‘one card, two ways’ request from TGIF challenges.

  1. Great combination of challenge themes, and love your colouring of the kings. I particularly like your definition of celebrate – perfect for Christmas 🙂
Thanks for joining us at Less is More and keeping it clean and simple.
