Somehow it’s Sunday again, so I’ve dipped back into Clarity’s Craft Club for the next in my Sunday sessions – today it’s the ‘hot air balloon aperture die’ (#139) from June 2022. I decided to go with the colours from Color Throwdown and the sketch from Global Design Project to make a bright child’s card.

I started with an A6 card blank (don’t use these very much these days), ran masking tape across the top and bottom edges and then added clouds with the Clarity mask, brushing ‘squeezed lemonade’ at the top and ‘festive berries’ at the bottom. I cut the hot air balloon aperture into a piece of white card and then attached it over the stencilled clouds (I’d remembered to put a layer of thin double sided adhesive sheet onto the card before die cutting it)

I then paper pieced the pattern on the balloon using a few scraps of Clarity’s companion papers. Once again, I backed the paper with a thin adhesive sheet before die cutting, which made it much easier to stick each piece in place.

The final step was to stamp one of the ‘Occasions’ sentiment on a scrap piece of card, trim it down and add it to the card front – I popped a small scrap of card underneath it to lift it slightly off the card.

I like this cheery card. If you want to get hold of the hot air balloon die, all of Clarity’s craft Club back issues to the end of last year are available on their website here – worth a look.
