poppy fields stencil

Welcome to my crafty blog and another card made with one of the brand new Art Nouveau stencils launched by ClarityCrafts today – this time the ‘poppy fields’, which comes in a pair with the ‘bed of roses’ I shared earlier. I’m going to share this card with a couple of other challenges: Inkspirational have got stencils as their theme this time round, and I probably don’t need to explain the rationale for Stencil Fun!

So, I started by attaching the ‘poppy fields’ stencil with masking tape onto a piece of Clarity’s stencil card. I first sponged ‘festive berries’ Distress Oxide through the poppy flowers, then brushed ‘carved pumpkin’ around the sun, adding a little across the bottom of the stencil. I followed by brushing ‘evergreen bough’, ‘chipped sapphire’ & ‘salvaged patina’ through the rest of stencil.

I trimmed the card down to leave a narrow border around the image, mounted it on a layer of dark green Indian Summer companion paper and then attached it to a 5×7 card blank. I finished with a KISS word sticker, which I also mounted on a scrap of Indian Summer paper.

Did you manage to catch the Clarity Shows on Create & Craft TV today? They were full of inspiration for the Art Nouveau stamps & stencils and some brilliant demo’s from Barbara Gray.

  1. I admire the creations and the colours used, but for me these stencils are a little too abstract. Always have had trouble with abstract art.
