tulip stencil

Hello crafty friends. I’m back with another of Clarity’s Art Nouveau collection – this time the brand-new tulip stencil that will be launching on tomorrow’s TV shows (it comes in a double set with the snowdrops stencil). I’ve picked up the sketch from Inspired by to showcase it on this card and I have to say that, having commented a little while back that I needed to get better at using stencils on my cards, you’re going to be seeing quite a few over the coming days!

I decided to just use part of the stencil for this one, so attached it to an off-cut strip of stencil card. I brushed ‘bundled sage’ & ‘kitsch flamingo’ Distress Oxides through it then added ‘rustic wilderness’ onto leaves & ‘festive berries’ onto the tulips. I wanted to add a little highlight to the card base as well, so placed the outer part of a circle mask onto the corner of a 6×6 card blank and sat the stencil on top of it to add a single tulip flower, again using the ‘kitsch flamingo’ and ‘festive berries’ inks.

I then trimmed the stencil card down around the edge of the image and ran a black Sharpie around it before adding a narrow mount of white paper and a layer of green Northern Lights companion paper. The whole thing then went onto the card blank.

I finished with one of the Art Nouveau sentiments.

I used to think stencils weren’t very versatile and just gave you the image straight onto card – how wrong I was! If you check out Barbara Gray’s blog you’ll be inspired by the amazing work from the rest of the Clarity design team.
