Welcome to my crafty blog and a bit of an exciting day! It’s the launch of new sets of Christmas stamps from ClarityCrafts on Create & Craft TV and a first airing for my design team samples, so I thought I’d share one with you!

I started with a piece of Clarity’s ‘Northern Lights’ designer paper (using the reverse side where the colours are more muted) and stamped the star bauble onto it in clear ink, then heat embossed it with WOW’s gold powder. I covered it with one of the pre-cut masks and stamped a second bauble alongside, then again embossed it with gold powder.

It needed something more in the background, so I sprinkled some ultra high gold embossing powder around the baubles and heated it. You need to be careful doing this, keeping the paper flat and heating from underneath so the powder doesn’t just all blow away! (ask me how I know…!) It does give a great effect, though. I drew string for the baubles with a clear ink pen and heat embossed those with the gold powder as well, adding the sentiment below the baubles.

The paper was a little warped after I’d kept heating it, so I left it to relax back into shape before attaching it to a layer of gold card and then to a black 6×6 card blank.

I’m going to share this one with Freshly Made Sketches and I think these stamps will be getting quite a bit of use this year. I’ll be back in a while with another of my design team cards.

Such a pretty result and I know exactly what you mean about heating embossing powder. I’m sure we’ve all done it and made a mess. I’ve taken to using a tiny bit of versa mark with a brush or a q-tip to dot about and then adding the powder. Works like a charm and heating it means it doesn’t blow off if you do it from the front.
