three way stamp – make a wish

Welcome to my crafty blog. Today I’m showcasing ClarityCraft’s design of the week, the ‘make a wish’ collection. I’ve used the three-way overlay stamp set on this card, picking up the current palette at CAS Colours & Sketches and incorporating pink, stars, silver & toadstool from the inspo list at Festive Friday

These stamp sets are great as each of the three fills in a different part of the image. I started by stamping the the first image from the set into the corner of a 7×7 piece of stencil card, which gave me the outline.

I slotted the card onto my stamping platform and lined up stamp two over the image (this one colours in the design). I find this easier than stamping it freehand as I can never get it exactly lined up once I’ve inked it! This way, I can adjust the un-inked stamp until it’s exactly where I want it. I coloured the image in two steps with this stamp – first I sponged ‘peeled paint’ Distress Oxide around the trees and flowers, lightly spritzed it with water and stamped it into place. I then sponged ‘hickory smoke’ onto the bunnies and the sentiment and re-stamped.

The third stamp in the set fills in the background, but I decided not to use it today. Instead, I coloured the flowers with ‘kitsch flamingo’ and a waterbrush (which was when I spotted the little toadstools in the corner of the design!). I wanted to turn the moon and stars silver, so carefully used a WOW embossing pen to ink them in and then heat embossed with superfine silver powder.

I must admit, I was rather pleased with how the embossing turned out. I trimmed the stencil card down to a small square, mounted it on a layer of grey card and attached it to a 6×6 card blank.

There’s so much versatility in this stamp set, and the design is also available as a stencil and a die – and it’s great value at 30% off until midnight next Monday.
