flower framer

Welcome to my crafty blog and some more new goodies that I couldn’t resist at ClarityCrafts‘ Open Day on Saturday! The ‘flower framer’ stamp set is the star of the card, showcasing the colour palette from The Paper Players and the layout from Atlantic Hearts. I’ll also share it with Happy Little Stampers for their watercolour challenge.

I started with a square of white card, Clarity’s circle stencil and ‘squeezed lemonade’ Distress Oxide, which I brushed onto the card through the centre of the stencil.

I then used ‘watering can’ Archival ink to stamp the main image from the ‘flower framer’ set to sit around the edge of the stencilled circle. This was actually my second attempt – for the first one I bent the two sides of the frame to curve around the edge of the circle, but thought it looked unbalanced so started again and left them straight (isn’t that why card has two sides to it…?!) I then added in the small floral corner and several of the single flowers to fill out around the frame. I decided to colour the flowers with Distress Oxides (‘squeezed lemonade’ & ‘everygreen bough’) and a water brush, then used ‘hickory smoke’ for the leaves.

I finished by adding a few of the little swirl stamps around the frame, together with the sentiment from the new ‘occasions sentiments – happy birthday’ set. I mounted the card onto a piece of the ‘Waimea Falls’ companion papers and attached it to a 7×7 card blank.

I must admit, I do like this combination of colours – they’re very fresh, and this stamp set is so easy to use. Scroll on down for a summary of the products I’ve used.
