daisy frames

Hello there! I’m back with a very clean & simple card today, using one of the ‘floral frames’ stamps from Julie HIckey Designs. I’ve pulled three challenges together for this one – the layout is from Inspire.Create and the colours from Color Throwdown, together with the overall theme from Less is More

The first step was to stamp the daisy from ‘floral frames’ three times onto a 6×6 kraft card, using ‘shadow grey Archival ink. I created an embossed frame around the squares using one of ClarityCrafts’ rectangluar embedders. I needed to extend it to reach right around the frames, so started by attaching it to the lower part of the card front with masking tape, then opened the card and ran my embossing tool around the bottom and two sides from the inside of the card. I then moved it up the card front (keeping it in line with the embossed area) and repeated the embossing from the inside of the card front, but this time focusing on the top and the two sides to join it up with the lower part.

I used a pink Pergaliner pencil to shade the outer parts of the petals, colouring in the rest with a white Pergamano pencil before using a dark grey for the centres of the flowers.

I kept it simple with a stamped sentiment from Julie’s ‘floral buttons’ set.

I do like one layer cards and Clarity’s embedders are the perfect solution for how to add a frame to an image. This card’s going to be winging it’s way to a friend who’s going though a difficult time.

  1. This is so pretty, love the frame adds a touch of dimension to the single layer, and the stamps are so delicately coloured. Thank you so much for playing along with us at LIM always a pleasure to see you in the gallery.
