mandala stencil

Hello crafty friends. I’m finally getting back into the swing of things after my holiday, and was doing a bit of catching up at my craft desk this afternoon. My April Craft Club goodies arrived from ClarityCrafts while I was away, so I’ve given the mandala stencil a first outing on today’s card, inspired by the challenges at Color Throwdown, Freshly Made Sketches & The Paper Players

The first step was to attach the stencil to a square of card that I’d cut to fit a 6×6 card blank, using masking tape down one side to create a hinge so that I could check the colours underneath. I used blending brushes to first put ‘twisted citron’ Distress Oxide into the centre of the stencil, then added ‘kitsch flamingo’ around the outer part. Having the stencil attached as a hinge meant I could open it out to clean the lime ink off it before putting it back down to add the pink.

I lightly brushed the pink around the edges of the card (I just used what was on my brush, without loading any more from the ink pad), then attached it to the card front. I had some pink & white baker’s twine in my stash so wound that around the card and tied it in a bow.

I finished with one of the KISS word stickers and a few lime green matte dots.

Thanks for dropping in. I’m aiming to get back into my regular crafting routine this week, so I’ll be back tomorrow.

  1. This is really pretty Deborah – great tip on attached the stencil for ease of cleaning part way too. Love the twine and enamel dot additions – a beautiful CAS card. Thanks for playing along with my CAS challenge over at The Paper Players this week!

  2. Deborah, What a beautiful stenciled card. I love the color choice. The bright green looks great with the pink. Thanks for taking part in The Paper Player’s CAS challenge.
