gilded leaves

Welcome to my crafty blog and a simple sympathy card, using Stampin’ Up!’s ‘forever fern’ set and CASE’d from a design I saw on Pinterest. I was inspired by the ‘gilded leaves’ theme at Inspired by and the green & gold palette at Color Hues was perfect.

I started by stamping the sentiment from ‘peaceful moments’ into the corner of a square of white card using ‘rustic wilderness’ Distress Oxide, mounted it on a layer of SU’s ‘garden green’ card and then onto a 5×5 card blank.

I stamped two of the leafy branch from ‘forever fern’ in ‘rustic wilderness’ and die cut them. I used my WOW embossing pen to touch clear ink around the edges of the leaves and then heat embossed them with superfine gold powder. As it happens, my ink wasn’t totally dry and the gold powder clung to more of the leaves than I’d expected, but I rather like the effect.

I mounted both sprays onto bits of scrap card and then attached them to the card front. Nothing else needed!

I think this would look equally nice the other way up, with the leaves sitting in the bottom corner – one for next time!

  1. Those leaves are beautiful and I’ve done exactly what you mentioned. Added the powder before the ink was properly dry. Sometimes that mistake turns out to be a good one as it did here.
