Clarity Craft Club lookback – frilly embellishment die

Hello there and welcome to my Sunday dip back into Clarity’s Craft Club, this time to the ‘frilly embellishment’ dies from April 2021.

I thought the panel die would work for the layout at Freshly Made Sketches and added the colours from Color Throwdown in the little scene.

I started with a piece of card trimmed to fit an A6 card blank and Clarity’s ‘build-a-scene’ masks, using ‘evergreen bough’ Distress Oxide and a blending brush to create the grass and lower edge of the diagonal (I lined the masks up with the die sitting on the card so I had them at the right width). I stamped a few of the KISS ‘doodle flowers’ in ‘watering can’ Archival ink.

I blended ‘chipped sapphire’ Distress Oxide across the ‘build-a-scene’ clouds mask, keeping it very light over the flowers and tring to leave the edges very soft. I then shaded in the flowers with Pergaliner pencils.

The next step was to cut the ‘frilly embellishment’ panel from a piece of scrap white card and glue it onto the topper, using scissors to trim it level with the edge of the card, before attaching it to the A6 card blank.

The final step was to pop one of the KISS word stickers across the die cut.

I have to confess, I’ve struggled to use this die since it arrived nearly 2 years ago as it’s not really my style. I’m now looking at it differently – you may well see it make future appearances…
