Hello crafty friends. I seem to be doing quite a bit of paper piecing into diecuts at the moment, so here’s another one, this time using Clarity’s ‘art nouveau tulips’ dies. I took the colours from Creative Colour Challenge and the ‘birthday’ theme from Time Out. Seize the Birthday have got a very interesting challenge, which is to use your own intials – mine are DCW and as you can see the card contains a Diecut, Circles (in the diecut) and White card.

I started by blending a background area on the front of an A5 card blank using ‘tumbled glass’ Distress Oxide. I cut the ‘art nouveau tulips’ into a piece of white card that I’d trimmed to the right size (and had remembered to put a Stick It adhesive layer on the back), then attached it to the card front.

I recut the die using scraps of Stampin’ Up!’s patterned paper in ‘sweet sorbet’ and ‘parakeet party’ and glued them into the design to pick out the flowers.

I decided it needed more of a frame to finish it off, so cut one in ‘parakeet party’ card using two of Clarity’s nested dies. I finished with one of the ‘bijou ribbon sentiments’ stamps.

I do love this range of Clarity’s dies and should use them more often. My friend wanted a birthday card with spring flowers for her mum, so the tulips fitted the bill nicely.
