Guest designer for the new colour challenge at Global Design Project

Hello everyone! I’m thrilled to have been invited along as guest designer for the new challenge at Global Design Project, with these gorgeous colours.

I decided to keep it fairly simple and just let the colours do the work with the large flowers from Stampin’ Up!’s ‘artistic’ die set. I’d seen a beautiful card over on Pinterest that inspired my design. I started by cutting the flower die in black card (having first remembered to put an adhesive layer on the back for once!) I attached it to a square of white card, which I mounted on a layer of black and a second one of ‘highland heather’.

I then indulged in some serious paper piecing! I cut the die into several small scraps of card to be able to fill in the flowers – ‘highland heather’ for the larger one and ‘blushing bride’ for the rose. I don’t have any ‘fresh freesia’ card, so coloured a scrap of white with my Write marker and then cut the three smallest flowers from it. I’d put an adhesive layer on each of the card piees so they were easy to then stick into the die cut, working with one colour at a time.

I added the sentiment from SU’s ‘art gallery’, together with the die cut numbers as this is heading off to my friend’s daughter. I attached the whole piece to a 7×7 card blank and finished by adding SU ‘fresh freesia jewels’ to the centre of the largest flower.

I really love this colour combination! There’s more inspiration from the design team on the GDP blog – how will you choose to use these colours?
