Clarity craft club lookback – thank you aperture die

Welcome to my crafty blog and our weekly trip back into Clarity’s Craft Club. This week it’s the bonus die from January 2021 – great for quick and easy thank you cards.

I took my inspiration from the sketch and colours at Inspired by together with the theme of no stamps from TGIF challenges

You’ll have noticed there are two cards again this week, as I’ve used the positive and negative parts of the die cut. Starting with the larger one, I cut the aperture die into the top left hand corner of a square of white card, then attached it to a layer of Clarity’s ‘Waimea Falls’ companion paper and onto a 6×6 card blank.

I cut another rectangle from the blue Companion Paper, together with a couple of green pieces, and stencilled a star pattern onto each of them with Clarity’s ‘starry burst’ stencil, using a blending brush with ‘mowed lawn’ for the green paper & ‘mermaid lagoon’ for the blue. I glued each of them onto the card front and decided that nothing more was needed – it’s a great comtemporary style.

The second card uses the bits die cut out of the first one. The trick with this is to keep these pieces in the die until you need them – I find it easiest to keep the die facedown when removing the first diecut, so you don’t dislodge the pieces. I cut a square of Clarity’s double sided adhesive the same size as the die, removed one of the cover sheets and stuck it over the back of the die, where the pieces were still sat. I gave it a good rub to make sure they were all stuck, then carefully peeled it out of the die. I’d already cut a small square of Clarity’s designer paper, so peeled off the backing layer and stuck it down (you need to be accurate with this – you only get one go as the adhesive sheet is very sticky!) I glued the paper to a 5×5 card blank, then sprinkled Perga glitter over the die cut – this will stick to all the exposed adhesive sheet.

Thanks for dropping in. I hope you’ve had a good weekend, wherever you are. I had a great afternoon doing a spot of online crafting with my sister and my crafting buddy – more of that later in the week,
