Clarity Craft Club lookback – holly birds

Well it’s Sunday again, so I’ve dipped back into Clarity’s Craft Club, this time to the ‘holly birds aperture’ die from November 2020. We’ve also got our first challenge of 2023 at Sparkles – it was my turn to choose the theme and I’ve gone with ‘friendship’. I thought these two birds were perfect to make a birthday card for a friend, which also picks up the ‘winged things’ theme from Seize the Birthday

I started with a 6×6 card blank, laid the die on it and marked the outer corners with a pencil. I ran masking tape cross the top and down each side, then blended ‘salty ocean’ Distress Oxide onto Clarity’s clouds mask to form the sky.

I cut a square of Clarity’s ‘Waimea Falls’ designer cardstock, attached a layer of ‘Stick It’ adhesive sheet to the back and then cut the die into it. The die cut then sat in the centre of the card front, with the sky showing through the aperture.

I found a piece of blue paper in my scraps box and recut the die into it, so that I could paper piece the birds.

I finished with a couple of the new KISS word stickers and a few blue Glossies

So come on over and join our ‘friendship’ theme at Sparkles Challenge. There’s more inspiration from the design team over on the blog and you’ve got until 13th February to play along.

  1. This is stunning, Deborah! I love the clouds, the colorful framing, and the birds. Thanks for sharing it with us at Seize the Birthday and for using our topping!
