12 Days of Clarity 2022 – to have and hold

Welcome to my crafty blog and day 8 of my 12 Days of Clarity challenge, which brings us to the ‘to have and hold’ stamp set from August’s Craft Club.

I love this cake stamp – it would work really well for birthdays but I’ve stuck with a wedding theme for today’s card. I started, though, with my new circle & oval embedders from Clarity that I got last month but hadn’t yet seen the light of day. I wanted a frame on the card and decided to see if I could create one with the embedders. The first step was to take the larger of the two ovals I’d chosen and attach it to the inside of a 6×6 card blank using a piece of folded over low tack tape (you’d normally put it on the front, but go with me here…) I then ran a bone folder and an embossing tool around the edge of the oval working on the front of the card (being careful to keep it neat). I took the smaller oval and this time attached it to the front of the card with a bit of low tack tape again, making sure it was centred inside the larger oval I’d just embossed. I then flipped the card to the inside and ran my embossing tool around the edge of the oval. Doing it this way resulted in a raised frame on the front of the card.

I stamped the wedding cake inside the oval frame using WOW clear ink and heat embossed it with metallic gold powder. I coloured the icing using a few shades of pink Pergaliner pencils (very happy with the ombre effect I managed).

I mounted an appropriate word sticker onto a strip of gold card and attached it below the cake stand, finishing with a few gold Glossies.

Thanks for dropping in. I’m off to share this with a couple of blog challenges – the gold and pink is from Color Hues‘ new palette and Inspire.Create are looking for us to use something new (which were my embedders)
