Happy New Year, crafty friends! We’re starting 2023 with a new challenge over at Love to Craft and as always the theme is ‘anything goes’.

A friend asked me to make a birthday card for her daughter-in-law and I built the design around Clarity’s ‘happy birthday floral frame’ die. I started by cutting the die into the front of a 7×7 card blank. I then cut a square of Clarity’s ‘Antarctica’ paper and used a nested die to give me a smaller square plus a frame. I glued the patterned square onto the inside of the card front, behind the die cut, and added the frame onto the front of the card. I used a couple of little scraps of paper to die cut the petals for the flower and the little hearts at the bottom, then pieced them into the die cut.

I created the sentiment using ‘Barbara’s relations’ stamp set from Clarity, then fussy cut them out and glued onto the card front.

The final touch was to die cut the recipient’s name in a co-ordinating paper using Julie Hickey’s ‘sweet pea alphabet’ dies.

Come on over to Love to Craft and share your creations with us. Our challenge runs until 15th February, and there’s lots of great ideas from the design team if you’re short of inspiration.
Just beautiful Deborah. I’m sure your friend was thrilled with it. I love the die cuts along with the pretty background. It is super special to have a card with your name on it! 🙂
