birthday love and laughter

Hello crafty friends. I’ve been making more cards with Julie Hickey’s ‘sent with love’ envelope stamp, inspired by Phillipa Lewis’ recent online tutorial. I love the idea of stamping only part of the image – it makes stamps much more versatile. I’ve taken the colours from Just Add Ink and will also share it with Happy Little Stampers‘ ‘anything goes’ birthday challenge.

I started with a piece of card trimmed to fit an A6 card blank and stamped the top part of the ‘sent with love’ envelope along the bottom edge in ‘watering can’ Archival ink. I repositioned the stamp to then fill the rest of the edge, angling it to come in from the corner, and stamped it again in the grey ink.

I coloured the image with stampin’ Up! Write markers and a blender pen – ‘sweet sorbet’ for the flowers and ‘bermuda bay’ for the leaves.

I shaded in the flower centres with a grey marker and used a SU ‘smoky slate’ alcohol marker to add shadow around the flowers & leaves, before mounting it onto a ‘basic grey’ card layer and then to the A6 card blank. I stamped the sentiment (from Julie’s ‘birthday blooms’ set) in the ‘watering can’ Archival and finished with a few small Glossies.

Thanks for dropping in. It’s been very cold here again and we had about 4 inches of snow yesterday evening – very unusual for North East London, but a good day to stay in and craft!
