envelope of flowers

Hello crafty friends. I’m a bit late posting this evening (I’ve been out to dinner with a friend I haven’t seen for several years), but didn’t want to miss the opportunity to share this card that I’ve made with one of the brand new sets from Julie Hickey Designs that were only released on Friday! I’ve managed to blend four challenges into this card: the layout uses the sketch from Just Add Ink, together with the ‘layered’ theme from Addicted to CAS (not easy on a CAS card) and an embossed piece for Can You Handle The Pressure. I was also inspired by the beautiful red flowers in The Card Concept‘s photo.

I started with a 5×7 card blank and glued a piece of card across the bottom that I’d embossed with a retired Stampin’ Up! folder. I also attached a narrow strip of card that I’d coloured with a ‘poppy parade’ SU Blend alcohol marker.

I then stamped the envelope of flowers from Julie’s new ‘sent with love’ set and coloured the flowers with the SU ‘poppy parade’ light & dark Blends, using a ‘daffodil delight’ Write marker for the centres & small flowers. I ran a light grey ‘smoky slate’ Blend pen around the edge of the flowers to add shade, then fussy cut the whole image. I attached it to the card front with foam pads.

I finished by stamping the sentiment and little flowers onto an oval die cut, glued that to the envelope and added three red Glossies.

I think this floral envelope is just fab – it’s bound to make future appearances on this little blog!
