wonderful birthday

Hello crafty friends. I’ve stepped away from black & white today, back to one of my favourite techniques of blending colours. I picked up the palette from CAS Colours & Sketches and paired it with the layout from Freshly Made Sketches

I started with the outer part of a mask that I’d cut using a small square nested die and blended Distress Oxides through it, repeating it twice more to pick up the sketch. I used ‘mermaid lagoon’ & ‘dried marigold’ on the top two squares, then ‘dried marigold’ & ‘pumice stone’ on the bottom one.

I had planned to stamp a large floral image across the squares, but couldn’t find one that looked right. Instead, I went with Julie Hickey’s ‘floral frames’, which happily were the right size for the blended squares – lucky or what?!

I finished by adding one of the sentiments from Julie’s ‘positive wishes’, added a mount of blue card and attached the whole piece to a 5×5 card blank.

Thanks for dropping in. I hope your weekend is going well – I had a great morning catching up with a former colleague over brunch. I’ll be back with another card tomorrow.
